Konnan is officially heading into the AAA Hall of Fame and the man inducting him couldnt be more fitting.
Rey Mysterio revealed on social media that he will personally induct his longtime friend and mentor into the AAA Hall of Fame. The announcement comes just over a year after Konnan returned the favor by inducting Mysterio into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023.
ts an Honor for Me to be able to induct my brother @Konnan5150 at the hall of Fame @freefighting, Mysterio wrote, marking the moment in wrestling history that brings things full circle for the two lucha libre icons.
Konnan has been a fixture in AAA since the promotions early days. He joined the company in 1992 and went on to become AAA World Heavyweight Champion. Today, he still plays a major role behind the scenes, working as a commentator and creative team member.
The AAA Hall of Fame, which launched in 2007, has seen only a select few legends enshrined. Rey Mysterio himself was one of the inaugural inductees, alongside AAA founder Antonio Pea.
Konnans recognition also comes on the heels of a massive shift in the wrestling world. He was recently on commentary for AAA x WWE Worlds Collide in June the first joint event since WWE acquired AAA earlier this year.
