WWE wasted no time delivering big news during the Countdown to SummerSlam Sunday Pre-Show, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Michael Cole dropped a major update for fans tuning in early the Womens World Championship Triple Threat Match will be kicking off tonights premium live event.
Cole made the announcement after running down the nights stacked card alongside Big E and Wade Barrett. The panel discussed the fallout from SummerSlam Night One, recapped the first nights wild moments, and broke down all the matches scheduled for tonight. Thats when Cole revealed the plan for the opening bell, saying The Triple Threat Match for the Womens World Championship will open SummerSlam Sunday.
This means Naomi will put her title on the line right out of the gate against IYO SKY and The Eradicator Rhea Ripley in whats sure to be an intense clash. Its a bold move by WWE to start the show with one of its biggest championship matches, and it could set the tone for the rest of the night.
With the Womens World Championship opening the event, the rest of the card remains loaded. Fans can expect the Undisputed WWE Championship Street Fight between John Cena and 2025 King of the Ring winner Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynchs Last Chance title defense against Lyra Valkyria, and a six-team TLC match for the Tag Team Titles, among other high-stakes battles.
Starting the night with Naomi, Ripley, and SKY going all-out for gold could be the perfect way to get the MetLife crowd roaring before Cena and Rhodes close the show.
