After missing the Toronto Masters 1000 to recharge his batteries, Carlos Alcaraz resumed practicing ahead of the last Grand Slam of the season. The world number 2 will be one of the most anticipated protagonists of the next US Open, scheduled in New York from August 24 to September 7. New York certainly evokes good memories in the mind of the Spanish ace, who won the first Major title of his young career in the Big Apple three years ago.
The first part of 2025 has been full of satisfactions for Carlitos, who has already lifted five trophies and won his second Roland Garros in a row at the end of an epic final against his top rival Jannik Sinner (canceling three match points in a row to the Italian star in the fourth set). The 22-year-old from Murcia also reached his third final in a row at the Wimbledon Championships, but he was unable to lift the job this time by succumbing to Sinner in four sets in a match where he did not fully express his enormous potential.
Alcaraz is practicing hard
Before going to New York - where he will also play the mixed doubles tournament together with Emma Raducanu - the five-time Grand Slam champion will participate in the Cincinnati Masters 1000, which will take place in Ohio from 7 to 18 August.
Alcaraz has never won this tournament, but he had a match point against Novak Djokovic during the final of the 2023 edition. Last year however he was not at the top of his shape after the Paris Olympics and his run ended already in the second round against the French veteran Gael Monfils.
According to top analyst German R. Abril, the former World No.1 is practicing with enormous intensity these days and is focusing his work mainly on net play and passing shots.
