Naomi Osaka didn't wait too long to add a new name to her coaching staff as the current world No. 49 is set to be assisted by Iga Swiatek's former long-time coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, via WTA Insider Courtney Nguyen.
Following a Washington round-of-16 in her first hard-court tournament this summer, the four-time Grand Slam champion decided to end things with coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
Considering the timing of the split, the belief was that Osaka would be alone at this week's WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal. But the 27-year-old reacted quickly and reached out to Wiktorowski, who worked with Swiatek for four years and won as many Grand Slam titles with the Pole during their tenure.

However, according to Nguyen, nothing is set in stone yet as Osaka and Wiktorowski agreed to first have a trial period before deciding whether to make it a permanent partnership.
Wiktorowski is Osaka's third coach in the past 19 months
When the former world No. 1 launched her post-pregnancy comeback at the start of 2024, she brought back Wim Fissette - with whom she enjoyed success in the past - to her team. But their second stint didn't work out and they separated after only eight months.
Then, Osaka made a splash move and hired Serena Williams' long-term coach Mouratoglou. That one didn't bring the desired form and results either.

Now, the Japanese - who is 22-12 this year and sitting just inside the top-50 - has added another big coaching name to her team. When Wiktorowski started working with Swiatek, he famously guided the Pole to the world No. 1 ranking in 2022 and a stunning 37-match winning streak.
Osaka will surely be hoping that Wiktorowski will be able to give her some of that magic and help her rediscover her Grand Slam-winning form.
