Tessa Blanchard has now defended Hulk Hogan over his racist remarks, following his recent passing.
While speaking on her YouTube channel, Tessa Blanchard admitted it was hard for her to decide if she should post the video. She went back and forth because she knows how the internet can be; how fast people share opinions, twist what others say, and jump on trends without knowing the full story.
In the end, Blanchard chose to speak up. She said life is too short to stay quiet just to avoid online hate. She didnt post the video for attention or likes since she just wanted to show respect.
Tessa said Hogan wasnt just a wrestler. To a whole generation, he was wrestling. He brought a lot of attention to the sport. He made it bigger, louder, and more exciting. He packed arenas and got people interested. He made wrestling feel important to people outside of it as well.
Blanchard explained that even if you didnt grow up watching Hogan, or whether you liked him or not, if youre part of the wrestling world, youve felt his influence. Its in the reaction of the crowd, the energy when you walk out to perform and the way wrestling works today.
Tessa Blanchard also said that Hulk Hogan wasnt perfect, but no one is. She talked about how people are quick to judge others based on their worst moments and forget that theyre human. She believes people are complicated, and that includes both her and Hogan. No one gets to decide whos good or bad based only on part of the story.
Blanchard said that if youve ever felt misunderstood or judged unfairly, youd understand her point. Tessa didnt want to focus on the bad stuff. She wanted to remember the good things Hogan did, the things that helped change lives and shape wrestling.
The TNA star also said that people turning Hogans death into an online debate are missing the point. This is a time to show respect, to give his family time to grieve and to remember that Hulk Hogan gave everything to wrestling.
Its to be noted that Tessa Blanchard has been branded as a controversial figure in wrestling after indie wrestler La Rosa Negraaccused her of using a racial slur and spitting on her, which Blancharddenied ever happened. Therefore, fans find it very ironic how Blanchard came to Hogans defense, considering her own reputation.
