AEWs new World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament kicked off on the July 23 episode of Dynamite, and FTR came out with the first winbut not without controversy. The former champs took on JetSpeed in a fast-paced opening round match, but the finish raised plenty of eyebrows.
As Dax Harwood went for the pin on Kevin Knight, Stokely Hathaway handed him his crutches, allowing Dax to use them for extra leverage. The referee didnt catch the assist, and FTR walked away with the win and a spot in the next round.
The bracket for the tournament remains incomplete, with several quarterfinal slots yet to be revealed. AEW is keeping fans guessing on who else will enter, but one thing is clear: FTR is willing to do whatever it takes to reach Forbidden Door: London on August 24 for a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
This tournament just got a whole lot more unpredictable. With interference already playing a role, fans should expect more chaos in the coming weeks.
