Ring of Honor still doesnt have a television deal, but behind the scenes, efforts to secure one may have triggered an unexpected win for AEW.
According to Fightful Select, Tony Khan had a specific dollar amount in mind for what he believed ROHs TV rights were worth. While formal offers did come in, none of them matched Khans target. However, those same talks eventually led Warner Bros. Discovery to strike a deal that put AEW Dynamite replays on TruTV every Friday at 10 PM ET. That slot was originally being explored as a potential landing spot for ROH programming.
Sources noted that AEW wasnt even expecting that kind of arrangement to emerge, but the two sides came to terms anyway. AEW agreed to fill the time slot with existing Dynamite content rather than debut new ROH material, making the most of a deal that was never part of their original rights negotiations.
There have been other inquiries over the years from networks interested in ROH, but no TV agreement has ever come close to being finalized. While there were online rumors suggesting a new show called AEW Shockwave could be in the works, Fightful confirmed that was simply a creative pitch and not a real project in development.
So far, Ring of Honor remains without a dedicated television home, but the pursuit of one did at least score AEW another weekly broadcast.
