TNA just dropped a teaser that has the entire wrestling world on edgeand all signs point to one name: AJ Styles.
The July 17 episode of TNA iMPACT! closed out with a brief but jarring teaser that aired in the final moments of the show. The clip didnt show much, but it didnt have to. A stylized logo flashed with effects fans instantly connected to Styles, sending speculation into overdrive ahead of this Sundays Slammiversary pay-per-view in Long Island.
This comes just days after TNA President Carlos Silva lit the fuse with a one-word post online: Phenomenal. That choice wasnt lost on anyone. AJ Styles has been known as The Phenomenal One since the early days of his careerand fans immediately started putting the pieces together.
PWInsider followed up the speculation with a new report, stating that there absolutely has been talk that Styles will be making an appearance this weekend. While nothing has been confirmed by WWE or TNA directly, the silence is speaking volumes. Insider Mike Johnson added, If you are hoping to see the prodigal son finally return home, I believe you will be happy if you order or attend Slammiversary.
The rumors have been stacking for weeks. Even WWE NXTs Trick Williams, the current TNA World Champion, casually mentioned in an interview that AJ Styles is the main roster star he wants to face most. That, paired with Silvas not-so-subtle tease and now this cryptic clip, has fans expecting something huge.
If Styles does show up, it would be his first TNA appearance since May 2013. Before becoming a cornerstone of WWE, Styles helped define the TNA brand, holding the NWA World Title, TNA World Title, and X-Division Championship during his legendary run.
Is AJ Styles about to walk through the door he helped build? Or is this just a very smart swerve? Drop your predictions in the comments and let us know if you think the Phenomenal One is coming home to TNA this Sunday.
