WWEsacquisition of AAA immediately led to speculation that AAA talent would be signed by WWE eventually. Reports suggested that Octagon Jr. has signed a deal with WWE but now it appears Konnan has shot down that report.
While speaking on the Keepin It 100 podcast, Konnan was informed that Bodyslam.net reported Octagon Jr. had signed with WWE after his appearance at Worlds Collide. However, Konnan shot down that report and stated that Octagon was the only person he asked directly about it, and Octagon told him no.
Disco Inferno then simply asked again whether Octagon Jr. told Konnan he hadnt signed, saying, Oh, he told you no. To this, Konnan just said, Yeah. Im telling you the truth about that. I did ask Octagon, confirming the Mexican star isnt signed with WWE.
This comes after Cassidy Hays of Bodyslam.net reported that Octagon Jr. signed a deal with WWE. The report claimed Octagon Jr. already let people know that he was working his final dates with AAA and wrapping up his remaining commitments before officially starting with the company. It was also mentioned that Octagon Jr. would no longer be taking any independent wrestling bookings as he prepares to transition into WWE full-time.
Its still very possible that WWE might try to sign him or other AAA wrestlers later on, since they want to grow their roster with more international talent. For now, Konnan has said that Octagon Jr. hasnt signed with WWE yet, but well have to see if that changes in the future.
What do you think about Konnan shooting down this report about Octagon Jr. signing with WWE? Sound off in the comments.
