Ever since he became a big name in AEW, MJF has always been compared to The Miz for one reason or another. However, The Miz has now addressed such comparisons and dismissed them completely.
While speaking to Peter Rosenberg, The Miz was asked about MJF being compared to him. He said he doesnt think MJF wants to be The Miz, because no superstar, no matter what company theyre in, wants to be the next someone else.
They all want to be originals. Miz pointed out that hes been compared to Chris Jericho and Ric Flair over the years, but he never wanted to be compared to anyone. He always aimed to be his own person.
The A-Lister explained that when youre learning and coming up in the business, you naturally pick up things you like from other superstars, using little pieces here and there as an homage. However, at the end of the day, you want to stand out as an original. He said he doesnt think MJF wants to be the next Miz, he wants to be the first MJF and that hes honestly doing a great job at it.
The Miz also added that at MJFs age, he was still in developmental at Deep South Wrestling, learning the trade. He wasnt on national television or cutting promos that had everyone talking, so he gives MJF a lot of credit for what hes already accomplished.
A few years ago MJF actually accused The Miz of ripping him off as well. Regardless, The Miz truly believes MJF is doing great as himself and so theres no need for him to be compared to the A-Lister.
