
After months of indie action and eliminations, WWE has officially set the date and location for the first-ever WWE ID Championship finals and its going down August 1st during SummerSlam weekend in Rutherford, New Jersey.
The WWE ID Twitter account made the major announcement on July 9, confirming that the finals will be held at GCWs The ID Showcase, bringing the partnership between WWE and the independent scene full circle.
The first WWE ID Champions will be determined on August 1st during #SummerSlam weekend in Rutherford, NJ when @GCWrestling_ presents The ID Showcase! the announcement read.
The Womens ID Championship will be decided in a Triple Threat Match featuring three breakout stars: Kylie Rae vs. Zara Zakher vs. Zayda Steel. All three women have battled through the round-robin tournament across various indie shows, and now one of them will walk out with WWE gold.
As for the Mens ID Championship, the final will be a singles match but the competitors arent locked in just yet. That decision will be made on July 19, when House Of Champions hosts another installment of The ID Showcase in Orlando, Florida.
The ID initiative has created a brand-new path for unsigned indie stars to get noticed by WWE, and the payoff is coming during one of the biggest weekends of the year.
