The way WWE is promoting the upcoming Evolution event has left a lot of people scratching their headsand it might not be by accident.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Garrett Gonzales and Dave Meltzer didnt hold back, blasting the companys approach to Evolution and suggesting that WWE may be using the event as a strategic move to cause problems for rival promotions like AEW.
Gonzales kicked off the conversation by calling out how WWEs marketing has made Evolution feel like an afterthought compared to Saturday Nights Main Event, which takes place the same weekend.
Meltzer didnt disagreeand pointed to WWEs history of strategic scheduling when it comes to flooding markets and creating chaos for competitors.
When Gonzales replied, Yeah, Meltzer doubled down on the implication.
Meltzer also revealed that WWE originally booked Evolution for July 5 at the Mohegan Sun, but later moved the eventa decision he believes reflects the companys chaotic strategy.
Meltzer made it clear this isnt about maximizing ticket salesits about clogging up the calendar and limiting opportunities for other promotions to run successful events.
WWE moving Evolution next week might sound like typical schedule shufflingbut lets be real, this is WWE were talking about. Flooding the calendar, creating chaos, and making life harder for their competition has always been part of the playbook. Whether this move helps or hurts Evolution remains to be seen, but one things for surethe timing wasnt some innocent coincidence.
Do you think WWE is deliberately using Evolution to cause problems for their competition? Or is this just business as usual? Hit the comments and tell us what you think.
