MJF made sure the wrestling world kept talking last night with a surprise return to MLW, and the reaction behind the scenes was exactly what the company hoped for.
The former AEW World Champion showed up unannounced at MLW Summer of the Beasts in New York City, attacking Mistico during a live promo at the Melrose Ballroom. Fans inside the venue were shocked, but according to Fightful Select, the MLW locker room was more than pleased with how the entire moment came together.
Those within the company were said to be thrilled with how the attack and the event played out overall. With MLW drawing strong crowds over the past year and a half, MJFs return only added fuel to the momentum theyve been building.
The scene inside the venue saw Mistico fending off CONTRA henchmen, only to be blindsided by a masked attacker. When the mask came off, the crowd erupted as MJF stood in the ring with his trademark smug grin. He grabbed a mic and promised that his business with Mistico isnt over and that he plans to embarrass both Mistico and his home country before hes finished.
The attack adds another layer to the growing drama between MJF and Mistico, a feud thats already crossed over AEW, CMLL, and now MLW. With MJF fresh off generating major heat during AEWs Grand Slam event in Mexico where one fan even confronted him at his hotel its clear this rivalry isnt slowing down.
