Rey Mysterio isnt hiding the wear and tear after decades of defying gravitybut according to him, the real damage hasnt hit where youd expect.
The WWE legend opened up on LA PLATICA, giving a brutally honest update on his body and the injuries hes endured, including the groin tear that forced him out of WrestleMania 41.
While discussing his high-flying style, Mysterio admitted that his back and neck, two areas most wrestlers struggle with, have held up shockingly well.
It turns out Mysterios knees have taken the worst of it, with a brutal injury tally that includes around 11 ACL and meniscus tears. And most recently, that damage caught up with him again the day before WrestleMania 41, when he tore his groinan area he admitted has become his weaker side thanks to years of knee issues. Rey explained that the tear didnt happen during some wild stunt, but a simple movement gone wrong.
The injury was severe enough to sideline him from his scheduled WrestleMania match against El Grande Americano, with AEW star Rey Fenix stepping in as a replacement. Mysterio has since undergone surgery for the groin tear and also took care of a lingering busted eardrum during his time off. Despite the setbacks, hes staying positive and expects to be back sooner rather than later.
If all goes according to plan, Mysterio could return to WWE before the end of summer 2025just in time to shake up SmackDown heading into the fall.
