AEW might be keeping some big surprises under wraps.
According to a report from Bodyslam.net, AEW has already created two new sets of tag team championships but neither has seen the light of day on TV.
One of the concepts is the Inter-Generational Tag Team Championships, designed exclusively for father-and-son tag teams. AEW sources claim this idea was a major reason behind the recent on-screen focus on Christian Cage and Nick Wayne, along with Billy Gunns continued involvement with The Acclaimed and Anthony Bowens.
The company has even considered bringing in some legendary real-life father-son duos for the division. Names like Ricky and Kerry Morton and Kevin Von Erich teaming up with one of his sons have been discussed. There was also talk of Jurassic Express reuniting, though its unclear if that was tied directly to the inter-generational titles.
In the case of Christian Cage and Nick Wayne, AEWs original plans reportedly included them facing off with The Hurt Syndicate, which wouldve featured a betrayal angle as part of a long-term storyline.
On top of that, AEW has also finalized Womens Tag Team Championships, but just like the father-son belts, theyve been quietly shelved for over a year.
Right now, both sets of titles are sitting on the shelf, with no confirmed plans for when or if theyll ever be introduced to fans.
Do you think AEW should finally debut these new titles, or is it better to leave them on ice? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
