Many fans were in for a shock after Elayna Black was let go by WWE last month, since she was heavily featured on NXT before her release. Surprisingly enough, Black has now revealed that she was in talks about winning the NXT Womens North American Title before her firing.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo, Elayna Black explained that she had been working hard and trying to be the best version of herself for any opportunity that came her way. Just two days before she was released, she had a conversation with someone in WWE creative about possibly winning the North American Title. That made it even more surprising when she was suddenly let go shortly afterwards.
Salcedo pointed out that, from an outsiders perspective, theres a clear disconnect within WWE. Hearing that Black was in talks for a title opportunity and then got fired days later added to that feeling of disconnection.
Black admitted she had no idea what happened. She said unless someone is really high up and aware of everything behind the scenes, nobody really knows why things go the way they do. She mentioned that with all the changes happening due to the TKO merger, maybe someone at a higher level simply didnt like her and decided to cut her.
Black added that she no longer really understands how things work in the company. Theres so much change happening, and its unclear whos in charge of what anymore. Instead of stressing about it and driving herself crazy, shes choosing to accept it. She figures she just didnt fit into the direction WWE is headed, and shes okay with that.
Elayna Black also recently made it clear she wouldnt go back to WWE if they called her right now since she wanted to explore other options. Regardless, well have to see how 2025 turns out for Black as the world is truly her oyster.
