Ron Killings has always brought the laughs, but during a sit-down with Daniel Sadoh, the mood shifted when the conversation turned to his past WWE suspension. In a spontaneous moment during a playful psychology bit with inkblot tests, Killings opened up about failing a drug test and says it wasnt even from smoking himself.
The host brought it up directly, asking, So you got in trouble in WWE smoking, didnt you? Killings didnt dodge. Perhaps both, bro. We had the drug policy, man. I popped. It was one of those drugs. When asked if the policy was still the same, Killings gave a straight-up answer: I was around some people that was smoking. Pressed further on whether it really wasnt him, he added, It got in my system.
That led to the inevitable follow-up: can secondhand smoke really cause a failed drug test? Killings didnt hesitate. I dont think I know. It happened to me. He then explained exactly what went down, saying, I was in the car with them and I went to sleep. The host joked that Killings sounded like he was snitching, but Killings just laughed and replied, I dont tell a man what he can do and what he cant do. That was me I working.
When Did the WWE Suspension Happen?
The failed test Killings referred to occurred in November 2011, during his run alongside The Miz. WWE announced that R-Truth was suspended for 30 days for violating the companys Talent Wellness Program. At the time, reports circulated that he had tested positive for synthetic marijuana, known as Spice. WWEs policy was strict even if a talent claimed secondhand exposure, a failed test was treated as a direct violation.
Killings returned from the suspension in late December 2011, resuming his storyline just in time for the build to the Royal Rumble.
