Shortly after WWE officially introduced her new name on the June 10 episode of NXT, Twitter users went digging and uncovered a 2016 tweet from May that might explain the inspiration behind it.
In the tweet, posted on November 6, 2016, she wrote: My little niece Blake
That one line has people speculating that Blake, the first name in her WWE moniker, is a tribute to her niece. As for Monroe, fans are pointing to the obvious connection: Marilyn Monroe, the Hollywood icon known for glam, luxury, and presenceexactly the energy Mays new persona is bringing to NXT.
During her NXT vignette on June 10, May was shown in a bathtub, applying lipstick, while a voiceover praised her glamour before closing with the line: :The glamour is.. Blake Monroe.
