WWE and AAAs Worlds Collide crossover event brought together two major wrestling powers, but one name discussed behind the scenes didnt end up on the broadcast. Mike Tenay, a respected voice in pro wrestling, was considered for the showbut he ultimately didnt appear, and now we know why.
Tenay, who got his start announcing during the original When Worlds Collide event in 1994, was contacted about participating in this years WWE x AAA collaboration. As revealed by Dave Meltzer on the June 8, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, things didnt come together.
There had previously been speculation over whether Tenay was even contacted. Meltzers update confirms he was approached, but talks didnt lead to an agreement.
WWE and AAA kept commentary details under wraps heading into the event. The only official on-air return announced ahead of time was Lilian Garcia, who served as the in-ring announcer.
Tenays name being in the conversation shows the level of thought WWE and AAA put into the events presentationeven if a deal wasnt reached in the end.
What do you think about Mike Tenay being contacted but ultimately not appearing at Worlds Collide? Should WWE and AAA have gone further to bring him in? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
