The fallout from R-Truths WWE departure is still growingand now some within the company are wondering why he wasnt offered a different role instead of being let go.
According to PWInsider, several people backstage questioned why WWE didnt offer Truth an ambassador position, similar to the role held by Titus ONeil. Given how beloved R-Truth is by both fans and fellow talent, many assumed he would transition into a long-term position within the companyeven if his in-ring career was winding down.
As one of the most universally respected and well-liked personalities in the locker room, Truthreal name Ron Killingswas seen by many as a WWE lifer. That perception was shattered over the weekend when a member of WWEs talent relations team informed him that his contract would not be renewed.
The move stunned the roster. There had been no backstage issues, no heat, and no signs that Truth was on the chopping block. In fact, the reaction has been described as overwhelmingly negative, with some calling WWEs decision ruthless and completely unnecessary.
Others have privately admitted that the release shook their confidence in the companys long-term security. Some talents are now reportedly working to negotiate and lock in their next contracts early, out of concern that even tenure and popularity dont guarantee protection.
While WWE has yet to release a public statement, the silence only adds to the frustration. Aside from a now-deleted tweet from SmackDown lead writer Brian Road Dogg James, the company hasnt addressed the situation at all.
Now, with questions circulating about why Truth wasnt given a role that couldve kept him within WWE, the move feels even more confusingand to many, like a wasted opportunity.
