During the May 28 episode of AEW Dynamite from the El Paso County Coliseum, Hayter came to the ring for a sit-down with Renee Paquette. The topic: her failure to win the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. But before she could say much, the lights suddenly went out.
A spider graphic appeared on the entrance screens. When the lights came back up, Thekla was standing in the ringand she wasted no time. The Austrian star brutally attacked Jamie Hayter, laying her out in a shocking debut moment that left the El Paso crowd stunned.
Commentary wasted no time filling fans in on Theklas story. After wrapping up a three-year run with Stardom, Thekla was fired with cause following a violent attack in her final storyline with the company. That aggression followed her straight to AEW, and she made it clear shes not here to make friends.
Who Is Thekla?
Originally from Austria, Thekla began her wrestling career in Europe before gaining wider recognition in Japan. She made her mark with the promotion Ice Ribbon, where her charismatic style and unorthodox offense set her apart. In 2022, she joined Stardom, aligning herself with the Donna del Mondo faction and quickly building a name as one of the most unpredictable and intense wrestlers in the company.
Known for her haunting persona, spider-themed imagery, and calculated violence, Thekla became a standout in Stardoms international scene. During her run, she competed in several key tournaments and feuds, including challenging for the Wonder of Stardom and Artist of Stardom Championships. Her exit storyline, which saw her fired after a violent attack, played directly into the character we saw appear on AEW Dynamite.
AEW had previously been linked to Thekla after news of her Stardom departure, but few expected her arrival to hit this hard, this fast.
With one vicious beatdown, Thekla introduced herself to the AEW audienceand sent a message to the locker room in the process.
