24-year-old Pacers fan Jarrett Funke has been arrested on three charges after stabbing two Knicks fans at a brewery after Game 2.
The Carmel Police Department were called to an incident at 10:44pm on Friday 23 May at Danny Boy Beer Works on Meeting House Road.
Police were called after a fight broke out when Funke allegedly slapped a Knicks fans hat off his head and shouted, Fk you, you still have a fking problem. Take this outside!
Reports say Funke was then walked out of the bar by his dad.
But not long after, he came back and, according to witnesses, stormed through the brewery fence. Thats when things escalated again and he started scrapping with the Knicks fans.
One of the victims told officers he briefly pulled out a black folding knife in an attempt to scare Funke off, but put it away quickly, insisting he never planned to use it.
At that point, Funke allegedly pulled a knife from his hoodie and swung it at the Knicks fan, hitting him.
Later, when speaking to police, Funke claimed he was attacked first. But, multiple eyewitnesses told a different story, saying Funke was the main aggressor throughout the incident.
One victim was hospitalized with a stab wound to the back, a broken rib, and a minor lung puncture. The second suffered a cut to his lower leg after hitting the stoop on the back patio during the fight.
At his court appearance Tuesday afternoon, Funkes bond was set at $2oK and he was also ordered to stay away from both victims.
According to FOX59s Max Lewis, hes now facing three felony charges: battery with a deadly weapon, battery causing serious injury, and disorderly conduct.
Funke is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
