WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley planned to have a retirement match last year but ultimately called it off after suffering a concussion. Interestingly enough, Foley has now revealed that he even met with MJF for a potential program that would have led to a retirement match.
While speaking to the Wrestling Classic, Mick Foley revealed that he actually had a secret meeting with MJF to talk about the idea of a retirement match. He noted that MJF had planned out six weeks of storytelling, and Foley said there were a lot of wrestlers interested in doing a final match with him, including deathmatch wrestlers, MJF, and Karrion Kross from WWE.
When asked if he and MJF might do something together on screen soon, Foley said it doesnt look like it will happen. Even then, he really appreciated the meeting. He said it was just two guys from Long Island meeting at a steakhouse, no photos, just a cool moment.
Foley said he didnt want to share MJFs ideas since thats up to him, but he thought they were really good. If they had gone through with it, it could have been a great six-week story.
Foley added that MJF is so talented that he could have helped make Foley better on the mic and helped cover his weaknesses in the ring. Even if the match wasnt amazing, he thinks they could have made people believe it was.
While a program between MJF and Mick Foley is likely never happening, the idea of a six-week Foley-MJF feud remains a fascinating what if for wrestling fans. Regardless, Foley will always have a ton of respect for the Salt of the Earth and thats never going to change.
