Kairi Sane won big on the May 26 episode of Raw as she defeated one-half of the WWE Womens Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan. Morgan had just returned from filming a major movie role in Japan, and she came back to Roxanne Perez offering dino nuggets to her boyfriend, Dominik Mysterio.
Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez ran into the Womens World Champion IYO SKY backstage along with Kairi Sane. Sane returned last week and suffered a loss in a MITB qualifier match. Morgan taunted Sane that she couldnt qualify while telling SKY that shes going to get herself a qualifying match and then win MITB. Sane then challenged Morgan to a match.
The match between Morgan and Sane was an on your edge of your seat match to say the least. Especially when Morgan almost certainly had a three count. However, it would be Perez and Rodriguez that would be the difference makers for Sane.
Sane went up top to try and put Morgan away with the InSane Elbow. While Rodriguez was on the apron distracting the referee, Perez knocked Sane off the top rope. Rodriguez, for some reason, started arguing with Perez (as if she literally didnt just help out Liv). Morgan went for ObLIVion but Sane countered and stacked up Morgan for the win.
Later backstage, a furious Morgan first had her sights set on Perezbut would eventually blame Rodriguez as she is the veteran and should have known better.
A Rhea Ripley promo aired hyping her for a MITB win.
It had already been confirmed prior to Raw, but Lyra Valkyria will defend the Womens Intercontinental Champion again against Becky Lynch. The two would have a segment on Raw. They would throw jabs at each other, Lynch calling Valkyrias fianc weird while Valkyria responded that Lynchs hot husband is the only talented thing about her.
Lynch stated that if Valkyria defeats her at MITB, then she will never challenge Valkyria for the belt again. However, if Lynch wins, Valkyria has to raise her hand in victory, much as Lynch did for Valkyria when she beat her for the NXT Womens Title.
