Drew McIntyre isnt coming out of WWE Backlash 2025 unscathed. The former WWE Champion revealed hes dealing with real pain after taking a nasty fall during the United States Championship Fatal 4-Way matchand hes not hiding it.

During the Backlash bout in St. Louis, McIntyre brawled through the crowd with Damian Priest. It all came crashing downliterallywhen Priest delivered a South of Heaven chokeslam from a platform. The plan was to send McIntyre through a table, but instead, his head reportedly missed the table and slammed straight onto the floor. Fans watching could tell something was off immediately.

Initial reports from PWInsider noted that McIntyre was being monitored closely by WWE medical staff following the rough landing. And now, McIntyre has confirmed hes working through it.

Speaking with Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel, McIntyre said hes still in pain and revealed, I cant turn my head all the way left yet. But rather than take time off, hes pushing forward with the grind, accepting the toll that comes with years in the ring.

Working hurt is just what happens if youre an athlete, especially as the years go by, McIntyre explained. If youre injured, it is something to take care of. Maybe back in the day, we would have taped it up and gone with it. In the past, I have worked with muscle tears and breaks, which isnt the most sensible thing, but the way we operate now, you want to last for the long run.

McIntyres comments shed light on the physical cost of wrestling at the top level and the mentality that keeps top-tier stars like him pushing through the pain. For now, hes staying in the gamebut this latest injury could be a warning sign.
