Jonathan Coachman just lit up WWE over its handling of WrestleMania 42and hes not pulling any punches.
After news broke that WWE is very, very close to moving WrestleMania 42 to Las Vegas for the second straight year, Coachman took to Twitter and torched the company and its parent, TKO Group Holdings, for chasing a bigger paycheck instead of honoring their original plan.
TKO does it again. Looking to collect every last dime they can get their hands [on]now they will even back out of an announcement of their biggest event due to a bigger check being put on the table, Coachman tweeted. Can you imagine the NFL announcing the Super Bowl and saying sorry San Diego, we will give you the Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl to be named later?
In a follow-up post, Coachman doubled down: I am hearing WWE going back to Vegas for Mania for the 2nd straight year. TKO and UFC HQ located there. What are we doing? I will ask the same question. Can you imagine the NFL hosting the Super Bowl in the same city 2 years in a row.
Originally, WrestleMania 42 was announced for April 1112, 2026, in New Orleans, with The Rock even appearing on-air to help unveil the location. But WWE and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation quietly pulled the plug in a joint statement, saying the event would move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.
Now, if the Vegas deal closes, WrestleMania 42 would take place April 1819 at Allegiant Stadium, just one year after WrestleMania 41 rocked the same venue.
Coachmans tweets echo what many longtime fans are feeling: frustration over WWEs growing emphasis on revenue over traditionand a sense that the events identity is being traded for the highest bidder.
Is Coachman righthas Wrestle Mania become too much of a money game? Or is WWE just doing smart business? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
