Joe Hendry isnt just coming into WWE NXT Battleground with a guitar and catchy song lyricshes coming in with some serious backup knowledge.
Just one day after dropping a scathing acoustic performance aimed at Trick Williams on NXT, the TNA World Champion took to social media to reveal who hes been working with ahead of their historic title match. On May 22, Hendry tweeted a photo standing alongside CM Punk and Ace Steel, captioned simply: Learning from the best .
Thats rightHendry is training with one of the most controversial and accomplished wrestlers of the past 20 years and the man who helped coach him behind the scenes. CM Punks presence here is impossible to ignore, especially with the heavy crossover between WWE and TNA heating up.
There werent many details, but the image said everything. Hendry looked focused and locked in next to Steel and Punk, fueling speculation about just how serious hes taking his match against Trick Williams this Sunday.
At NXT Battleground, Hendry will defend the TNA World Title against Trick Williams The rivalry was turned up several notches during the May 20 episode of NXT, where Hendry closed out the night with a brutal and hilarious musical performance that roasted Tricks past and even inserted Hendry into old footage with Carmelo Hayes.
Hendry ended the segment by calling Trick Carmelos btch,* which led to a physical confrontation. Trick got a few shots in, but Hendry ultimately dropped him with a guitar shot and the Standing Ovation.
So with training from Ace Steel and CM Punk now part of his prep, Hendrys not just showing up for a TV segmenthes showing up to win.
