Kayla Braxton is opening up about what it was like to work under Vince McMahon in WWE and how things shifted after Triple H took over.
Speaking with Simon Miller of WhatCulture Wrestling, Braxton pulled back the curtain on how WWEs backstage personalities were instructed to act during the McMahon era.
Especially during the Vince era, it was like, Dont react, dont smile, dont take away any of the attention away from the wrestler because youre just a glorified mic stand, Braxton said.
Braxton explained that things changed once Triple H took the reins. It got better after he left. Triple H was really good about giving us a little bit of freedom, she added.
Despite the increased freedom under Triple H, Braxton understands why WWE keeps their backstage interviewers in check. I get it, its a TV show, you only have a lot of time, its live television, they cant have us going all Mean Gene and taking over the entire segment. I understand why they do things that way, Braxton said.
Braxton, who left WWE in 2024 to explore new opportunities, was one of the companys leading correspondents. The current team of backstage personalities now includes Cathy Kelley, Jackie Redmond, Megan Morant, Sarah Schreiber, and Byron Saxton.
Kayla Braxtons perspective offers a rare look into how WWEs backstage interviewers operate under different leadership styles, revealing how much power has shifted since Triple H took over.
