Matt Cardona made a name for himself as Zack Ryder in WWE but he was eventually released in 2020. While Cardona has clearly seen lots of success in the independent circuit, Cardona has now admitted hes surprised he hasnt returned to WWE yet.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Matt Cardona said hes honestly surprised he hasnt gone back to WWE yet. He feels like something might be missing, but he doesnt know what. After big events like WrestleMania and WrestleCon, tons of fans ask him, When are you coming back? He says its not his decision and even at the hotel during WrestleMania weekend, people from WWE and other wrestlers kept asking the same thing.
Cardona explained that hes reached out to WWE a few times over the years, especially when hes doing something cool or big. But so far, no one has offered him anything. Everyone has been polite and professional, but there hasnt been any interest from WWE. Even then, he says hell keep working hard no matter what.
Cardona also said that when he got released, his goal wasnt to do whatever it takes to return. It was to prove to himself and his fans that he could succeed. Hes been saying that for five years now. He doesnt want to prove people wrong, he just wants to prove himself right. Even though hes tired of saying it, he still believes it. However, at this point, he wonders what more he has to do to get a chance to come back.
Chelsea Green made itclear she would love to see Matt Cardona back in WWE. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whether The Indy God will make his way back to WWE someday, as fans definitely want it to happen.
