John Cena is shutting down speculation about a potential run for president at least for now.
During an interview with Us Weekly, Cena was asked whether hed ever consider running for president in real life, given his new role playing a fictional U.S. President in the upcoming buddy action comedy Hez State.
This is a movie and Im playing a role in a buddy action comedy, Cena said. I just uh happen to wear a suit and say my characters in the Oval Office. I think thats about as far as we can take that.
When pressed further on the idea, Cena redirected the conversation back to his film, saying, Uh, I hope you see the movie on Amazon Prime uh Prime Video. Its Hez State is fantastic.
Cenas comments come as he continues to play a heel character on WWE television, a stark contrast to the larger-than-life hero image hes maintained for most of his career. But when it comes to stepping into real-world politics, Cena isnt making any moves beyond the fictional Oval Office.
