WWEs official acquisition of Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA is seen as a groundbreaking business move thats expected to change the face of the industry soon. However, it appears WWE plans to make more investments in Mexico besides AAA as well.
According to the popular Mexican outlet Record, AAA wont be the only thing WWE invests in within Mexico. It was reported that there are plans for WWE to expand further in the country, possibly through buying or building properties like an arena, a performance center, a new league, team, or any other business-related venture.
It is to be noted that the deal was made in partnership with Fillip, a sports and entertainment company from Mexico. Ifeverything goes as planned, the deal should be finalized by the third quarter of 2025, after completing all the normal legal and business procedures.
Thats not all, as we have previously reported that WWE plans to keep only a handful of AAA talent after replacing their current contracts. In fact, AAA employees are now concerned about mass layoff rumors following WWEs acquisition, as a change will definitely happen.
WWE acquiring AAA is just the start of big changes in Mexican wrestling. With possible new facilities and changes to how AAA talent is managed, fans can expect even more changes in the coming months, as its clear WWE wants to expand in a big way.
