After initially posting a cryptic GIF from Lords of Dogtown that fans took as a silent goodbye, Thorpereal name Karl Fredericksreturned to Twitter today with a message of gratitude and resilience. We move forward without fear. Thank you @WWENXT @WWE. Hoka Hey, he wrote, keeping it short but meaningful.
Alongside the post, Thorpe quietly changed his Twitter handle back to Karl Fredericks, the name he used throughout his standout run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling before signing with WWE in 2022. That move all but confirms hes preparing to step back into the ring under his original persona once his non-compete period ends.
Thorpes WWE run may have flown under the radar, but he brought cultural authenticity and global experience to the NXT brand. His memorable RAW Underground-style feud with Dijak showcased a grittier side of NXT, even if it never translated into a permanent push.
Adding another layer to this situation is the fact that Dakota KaiThorpes real-life girlfriendwas also let go as part of WWEs latest wave of talent cuts. The two now join a growing list of free agents with experience on both national TV and the international scene.
