The locker room tension in WWE might be boiling over behind the scenes. In the wake of the companys latest round of talent releasesincluding Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Shayna BaszlerVince Russo is now claiming that even active WWE stars who appear on television regularly are reaching a breaking point.
Speaking on BroDown, Russo said he recently spoke to a current member of the WWE roster, and the conversation wasnt exactly filled with optimism. Im not going to say who, but I was having a dialogue with someone on the active roster, this week, somebody who is on TV like every freaking week, and the level of frustration, Russo revealed. I feel so sorry for these people because this is what they wanted to do their entire lives, and when they get there, they are so frustrated, that theyre miserable. That to me is so sad, bro.
According to Russo, the source of the unhappiness comes down to favoritism. I mean, they had their favorites, and some were just on the outside looking in, he added, implying that if youre not in the inner circle of WWEs creative team, youre stuck with directionless storylines or no direction at all.
This backstage claim arrives amid a tough week for WWE, where a fresh wave of post-WrestleMania cuts gutted the roster and creative team alike. While several stars are already eyeing new ventures, otherslike the anonymous talent Russo referencedare stuck riding it out within the system.
Of course, take anything Vince Russo says with a grain of salt. The former WWE writer is known for stirring the pot, and its unclear how much truth there is to his unnamed source.
