Shelton Benjamin just pulled back the curtain on one of WWEs most controversial parody promosand it involves Vince McMahon, Trish Stratus, and a whole lot of towel drama.

During an appearance on The Gold Standard podcast with Maven Huffman, Benjamin addressed the infamous segment that aired as a spoof of the 2004 NFL commercial featuring Desperate Housewives stars in nothing but towels. WWEs version featured Benjamin, Trish Stratus in a towel with a face mask for her broken nose, and none other than Vince McMahon himself.

The spot ended with Stratus dramatically dropping her towel on camera, leading many to believe she was completely nude underneath. But Benjamin says that was never the case. No. I think they had like a bikini under there or something. Definitely not naked, he explained.

Benjamin also added that the entire parody was WWEs way of clapping back at the American publics outrage over the original NFL ad, calling it harmless fun. WWEs twist on the commercial even included what Benjamin described as a layer of racial humor from Mr. McMahonanother reason the segment stirred controversy when it aired.
