Nico Williams reiterated the fact that he is "super happy" at Athletic Club despite extensive transfer interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
The sought-after Spanish winger was on the cusp of joining Barcelona last summer only to stay in the Basque Country. As Williams later explained, he couldn't bring himself to leave a club he describes as his "family".
Barcelona have reportedly halted their pursuit of the 22-year-old, who is thought to be demanding a hefty salary to balance out the relatively reasonable 50m release clause in his contract.
"I'm 100% focused on tomorrow, on reaching the final and winning it. I don't want to look any further," Williams said while previewing Thursday's Europa League semi-final against Manchester United when the topic of his future was inevitably raised.
"I'm super happy here," Williams insisted. "I've always wanted to feel important here. It's a 10-star season for me."
As Williams was at pains to point out, his primary focus is on the upcoming Europa League showdown with United. "From the beginning, we've approached this tie with a low profile. It's a much better experience.
"We're a very ambitious team and we're going to give our best," Williams added. "If the fans give their all from minute one, we'll have a great chance. There's no doubt that we're going to give it our all for the final."
There was a concern that Williams would miss Thursday's tie after sitting out Athletic's narrow defeat to Real Madrid last month. "I'm quite well and calm," the forward revealed. "We managed it very well with the doctors, and the discomfort has been going on for a while. I think I'll be able to help the team until the end of the season."
