Once again the words from Graham Potter were one of pride in his team as they were beaten yet again. The gap to 18th is now just 2 points.

Brighton on the brink

Brightons loss to Manchester City has left them in a very precarious position. Having won just twice all season, the Seagulls have been left tantalisingly close to the relegation zone. Fulhams draw with Spurs has meant that the West London club are now within two points of their south coast relegation rivals and have two games in hand.

Despite the situation, Brighton boss Graham Potter was positive after the match and again reiterated how proud he was of his side despite coming away with nothing.

Well we are disappointed to come away with nothing. In any game you want to try and get something from the match, but we were playing against a top team, a top opponent,he said.

I thought our players were fantastic they gave everything, left everything on the pitch, which is ultimately all you can ask for and if the opponents are better on the day then thats how it is.

But our boys gave everything, they showed good personality and good character when we had the chance. I think sometimes you have to suffer here of course because they are so good and we did that and defended with out lives, defended as a team and tried to attack them.

Brightons next two league games are crucial as they face Leeds who are in a poor run of form. They then host Fulham in a relegation six-pointer. Should Brighton come out of these two matches with nothing, Potter could see his job very much on the line.

Percy Taus long-awaited debut

One of the more interesting stories of the match was the debut of Percy Tau. The South African forward was recalled by Brighton from his loan spell at Anderlecht after he was granted a work permit due to new regulations linking to the amount of minutes he had played for his nation of South Africa.

Its been a long time. Percys had some really good experiences in Belgium and he wants to take the next step. He joined us this morning, trained this morning. Its his first day, exciting for him, said Graham Potter on his return.

Tau was given his debut by operating on the right flank with Alexis Mac Allister and Leandro Trossard making up the front three. Playing against Manchester City was always going to be a case of defending from the front and putting in an extra shift in the defensive third but Potter believes that the South African did well on his debut.

Difficult game for him to start in because you have to defend a lot. He grew and grew and grew.

Tau could prove to be the goalscoring spark that Brighton are in desperate need of if they have any hopes of remaining in the Premier League.
